The Sustainable HECAP+ Initiative came out of the first Sustainable HEP Workshop, which took place 28 – 30 June 2021. There, a number of participants came together to produce a written reflection on the enrivonmental impact of basic research in high energy physics, cosmology and astroparticle physics and related disciplines, such as hadron and nuclear physics. This written reflection "Sustainability in basic research. A perspective from HECAP+" was published in 2025.
While not formally under the Sustainable HECAP+ Initiative banner, many of our members have been heavily involved in the Sustainable HEP Conference Series or have joined us as a result of these conferences. The Sustinable HEP series will soon be in its fifth edition, bringing together scientists and engineers to focus on the environmental sustianability of high energy physics and related disciplines.
Links to previous instalments of this conference series can be found below. Recordings are available for 2024 and 2025. (If you cannot find the recordings, registering should allow you to access them.)
